It's Time to Rebound

The Red Wings seek to rebound with a stronger offensive effort tonight against Colorado. The Wings' power play has been anemic over the past 10 games, and they've only mustered 4 goals over the past two games. Mike Babcock wants to see more energy from his team and the Wings need to stop looking lost without Pavel Datsyuk in the lineup.

Detroit leads the season series 2-1, winning the first two games easily by scores of 3-0 and 5-2. Colorado won the most recent matchup in December 4-2. Johan Franzen leads the Wings in this series with 5 G, 0 A including a hat trick in the 5-2 win. Danny Cleary has 2 G, 2 A in the series. Gabriel Landeskog has put up 1 G, 2 A against Detroit and Ryan O'Reilly scored twice in the Avalanche's 4-2 victory.

Newly acquired Kyle Quincey will be playing his old team for the first time today. Both he and Steve Downie have already had an impact since the "three-way trade" that involved Tampa Bay, Detroit and Colorado. Quincey had a goal against Vancouver and Steve Downie had a goal and assist in Colorado's 5-0 defeat of Columbus last night.

The Red Wings have succumbed the West and NHL leads to Vancouver who now has 86 points to Detroit's 85. The Red Wings are only ahead of St. Louis by 4 points and the Blues have a game in hand.

Detroit has been skating with the same lines and no lineup changes are foreseen. The Wings need more output from their top two lines to compete with a young, hungry Avalanche squad vying for the 8th seed in the West.

Of course, the trade deadline is approaching and make sure to keep up with all the moves as they happen Monday on the TCL liveblog.
