Red Wings Look to Turn Things Back Around

Coming off a surprising overtime loss to the New York Islanders and a loss against the Flyers where they almost came back, a game against the Edmonton Oilers is just what the doctor ordered for Detroit. The Red Wings face-off against the Oilers in Edmonton tonight.

That is by no means saying that it should be an easy game for the Wings tonight. In the NHL, you should never take your opponent for granted. Any team can defeat any opposing team on every given night. But the Red Wings do have a favorable record against the Oilers, so tonight is the perfect chance to get back in the winning column and back to the top of the NHL standings (alone).

The Red Wings defeated the Oilers 3-1 in Edmonton on November 5 and 6-2 at home on November 11.

The good news is that Brad Stuart is listed as probable after taking a Jeff Carter shot to the back of the head in Sunday's defeat. Patrick Eaves is a listed as questionable. Hopefully Eaves is back in the lineup soon. It was very unfortunate for him to injure his elbow shortly after getting his first NHL hat trick.

Jimmy Howard will be back between that pipes tonight after being pulled in Sunday's game.

On a final note: Congratulations to captain Nick Lidstrom on being chosen as the NHL's third star for the month of December! He was absolutely incredible and has many fans thinking Norris Trophy once again this season.

Red Wings also have the upper hand as the Oilers will be playing without Jordan Eberle. A great present for the Red Wings to take advantage of no doubt!
