Round Three For the Red Wings and Coyotes

It may seem crazy, but tonight will be the third time already that the Red Wings and Coyotes will meet in a playoff rematch. The teams have split the season series so far. The first game was a 2-1 overtime win for the Wings and the second meeting was a 4-2 loss for the Wings. Currently the Red Wings sit 4th in the West with 17 points while the Coyotes are 5 points behind with 12 and sit at 14th.

The Red Wings are coming off a weekend in which the had a solid road win in Edmonton on Friday and lost a wild won in Vancouver on Saturday. The Coyotes, on the other hand, are coming off of two straight losses.

The big news for the Coyotes is the fact that Shane Doan will not be in the lineup yet again. He is the heart and soul of the team, so it is obvious why it is such a big deal when he is out of the Coyotes lineup. It has been a bit of a bumpy road for the Coyotes so far this season, and the injury to Doan just adds to the adversity that the team is facing coming into tonight's game.

The Red Wings, however, have good news on the injury front. Defenseman Brian Rafalski who has not played since the second game of the season will be back in the lineup tonight.

Tonight is sure to be an exciting game as all Wings Yotes games have been since last season. It's great to have the Red Wings back home again and we can hope that tonight's game will be nothing like the 6-4 loss in Vancouver. I'm sure that was an exciting game if you were unbiased or even a Canucks fan, but it was definitely not something that Babcock and the team were proud of. It will also be interesting to see if Pavel Datsyuk can extend his point streak to 13 games (fingers crossed.)
