Red Wings aiming for a rematch in Chicago
It's back to back action for the Detroit Red Wings as they face their division rivals for the second of six meetings this season.
Detroit almost made a remarkable comeback against the Toronot Maple Leafs last night, but failed to respond to a third period goal by Joffrey Lupul. The Blackhawks are coming off a 4-0 loss to Colorado, but still hold the top spot in the division.
The Wings lost the first game in the series on December 30 in Chicago and will be looking for revenge, as well as the chance to improve in the division standings.
Pavel Datsyuk should have some momentum after last night's game where he had a pair of assists. Johan Franzen also had a pair of assists last night as well as a goal a piece from the two games before that.
The Blackhawks may be coming off a shutout loss, but Jonathan Toews leads the NHL with 60.8% faceoff wins. If Detroit plays anything like they did in the second period of last night's game, expect them to stay on the attack. They know now that they can't start slow in tonight's contest.
Jimmy Howard will have to settle for 99 career wins for now, as Ty Conklin will be in net tonight. Conklin only has 1 win this season.
