Into the Pond We Go
Following a 5-2 demolition at the hands of the Los Angeles Kings, the Detroit Red Wings will drive down the street to the Honda Center to take on the Anaheim Ducks.
It is most likely that Pavel Datsyuk won't play but he was practicing with full equipemtn before yesterday's game. Nicklas Lidstrom is still out with a foot injury.
The lineup will stay basically intact, and it isn't a good thing. The Red Wings have struggled greatly and can't put together a solid 60 minutes without it's two captains. The Ducks have no major injuries, but Corey Perry is day to day with a shoulder problem. It shouldn't prevent the 2011 MVP from playing tonight.
Jimmy Howard will probably play tonight after letting in four goals last night; but only a few were his 'fault.' Detroit's defence did not help matters and it paved the way for a lackluster return to game play for Howard. He will go head to head with Jonas Hiller tonight.
Watch out for the Ducks' top line of Perry, Ryan Getzlaf and Bobby Ryan, and Teemu Selanne isn't a slouch either. Lubomir Visnovsky leads the Ducks defence along with Cam Fowler.
The Red Wings desperately need Johan Franzen to start playing with some jump; he's been very subpar lately and it doesn't look like the effort is there. The top line of Valtteri Filppula, Henrik Zetterberg and Jiri Hudler has been good, but they need some secondary scoring. Gustav Nyquist is still in the line-up unless Todd Bertuzzi returns, which is unlikely.
