Positive or Negative
The Star Wars trilogy is one of my favourite movie franchises of all time, and just like Han Solo says in A New Hope, "I have a bad feeling about this."
Sounds kind of like what I was thinking.
"That's no first round pushover..it's a contender!"
The Detroit Red Wings travel to Nashville for Game 5 against the Predators in what is not a must win, but a need-to-win. With a loss, the Red Wings are golfing. It's a very simple way of putting it, but winning three games against the Predators is a tall order.
Mike Babcock spewed out some verbal gibberish saying that shot selection wasn't the key to the first four games. Guess what, Mike? It is. Pekka Rinne is six foot freaking five, the Preds pay him $7 million a year to be a stud, and he's beating you in the easiest way possible. When you roll in 25 shots from the outside into his glove, it isn't a challenge. It isn't a scoring chance. You can 'outshoot' an opponent 100-10 and have 90 of them be weak outside shots.
"I find your lack of faith comforting."
The Red Wings can try to change things up tonight, but a wise old Jedi once said, "Do, or do not. There is no try." Therefore, make a change. A change that will get the Red Wings under Rinne's skin. Nothing they have done has rattled him at all. How many goals has he let in that are his fault? Not too many. Datsyuk's steal caught him by surprise. Hudler's goal was a deflection. This screams for Detroit to get to the dirty areas and stop being so damn cute with the puck.
I don't want to be spoon fed the same crap over and over, because eventually you get used to it. Babcock's words scare me. The Wings are getting complacent. They look like they think they'll win because of who they are. Just think about it; poor old Nashville, the enemy, beaten twice before by the Wings in the first round of the playoffs, leading the series 3-1 and threatening to blow the Wings away in five games.
"No. We are your superior."
"That's not true! That's impossible!"
It isn't a stretch to say that the Wings systems are working, but scoring only two goals a game won't help you win in the playoffs. We've heard all the negatives and all the positives. We've force choked the life out of the topic. What side are you on?
The only thing that is important is waiting for Game 5 to start. C3PO said it best.
"Here we go again."
