Undefeated Versus Winless
The Detroit Red Wings take on the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight in Hockeytown in a matchup of a team that is undefeated and one that has no wins.
The Red Wings are off to their best start since 1997-98 when they won the Stanley Cup, going 4-0 in their first four games. Columbus, on the other hand, has gone 0-5-1 in their first six and sit last in the league. Of the 15 teams in the Western Conference, only 2 don't have two wins, obviously the Jackets, while the other is the San Jose Sharks.
This is one of those games where you expect Detroit to dominate and get the win. With my experience in these matters, usually the opposite happens. While I expect Detroit to win because they should win, I can easily see Columbus somehow beating up on the Wings after almost a week off.
Columbus has a handful of players out of the lineup including top line center Jeff Carter (fractured foot). Also out are Kristian Huselius (torn pectoral) and Jared Boll (sprained ankle). Detroit still has Jan Mursak on IR, while Mike Commodore is still out with an MCL issue.
Either both teams will keep their streaks going, or both will stop. My choice? Wings 4 Columbus 2.
