Wings Ride Streak to Buffalo

GAME PREVIEW

Detroit Red Wings (15-7-1) @ Buffalo Sabres (13-10-1)

The Red Wings ride into Buffalo with a six game winning streak intact, looking to make it seven in a row. Since 1995, Detroit has won 17 of 21 games against Buffalo, so clearly they have the Sabres' number.

Detroit has been subpar on the road this year (5-5), but have won their last three games away from home.

The story of the game is the Sabres' injury list, which includes starting goaltender Ryan Miller (concussion), Tyler Myers (broken wrist), Mike Weber (upper body), Brad Boyes (leg), Patrick Kaleta (groin) and Cody McCormick (upper body). Miller will dress as the backup to Jhonas Enroth tonight. Detroit's only injury is forward Patrick Eaves, out 6-8 weeks with a broken jaw.

According to MLive, the Red Wings line-up looks like this:

Franzen-Datsyuk-Bertuzzi

Filppula - Zetterberg - Hudler

Cleary - Helm - Conner

Miller - Abdelkader - Holmstrom

Lidstrom - White

Kronwall - Ericsson

Kindl - Stuart

Howard (starting)

Conklin

Scratches: Commodore, Brunnstrom , Emmerton

Brunnstrom is off because of the birth of his first son, and probably the lack of playing time resulting in everyone thinking he is incapable of holding a roster spot. Howard makes his 16th consecutive start tonight, and Chris Conner will make his Wings debut after being recalled from Grand Rapids. The 5'7 forward is 6th in the AHL in scoring and will look to have some great chemistry with Darren Helm, who is also a speedster.

Speaking of Brunnstrom, remember Ville Leino? Well, he's in the Buffalo line-up tonight, making $4.5 million a year. He's scored two goals and four assists while being minus five. He makes more than every Red Wing except Lidstrom, Datsyuk and Zetterberg. So let's give Brunnstrom a far start.
