Datsyuk is Back for Game Tonight!

Detroit rounds up their road trip tonight, facing the San Jose Sharks at 10:30PM. Their last ten games have been quite rough, standing 3-6-1. San Jose is not all that much better at 3-4-3. Who will be able to come out on top in this last regular season meeting?

The Wings beat the Sharks in their last meeting on February 19th, where the Wings won their 23rd consecutive home game. However, the Sharks won two of the three meetings this season. The Wings have one major advantage. Two words: Pavel Datsyuk. That’s right, Datsyuk has announced his return to the ice for the game tonight and I could not be more thrilled. The injury stricken team has been suffering without him.

Unfortunately, Nicklas Lidstrӧm is still out with a deep bone injury. Johan Franzén left practice early with severe back spasms and is a game-time decision. Rock solid Joey MacDonald also had back spasms and Jordan Pearce is said to have been called up from the Griffins to replace him. Jakub Kindl and Jonathan Ericsson are still out, but are expected to return to the game soon. The injury stricken Wings are starting to sound like they are getting a little better! The Sharks are missing Tommy Wingels, who has sat out the last two games due to an upper body injury.

You can be sure to look out for a solid performance from Red Wings Valtteri Filppula. He has landed five points in his last five games. Even better, San Jose’s Joe Thornton has eight points in his last five games.

It would be safe to say the Wings would be losing some hope, tonight no exception. Detroit has had a hard time winning games since their game against the Sharks in February, which cannot give them much confidence. They also cannot seem to score on the power play, but hope to stop the 0-for-28 hole they have created. Even more worrisome, the Sharks have taken eight of their last 10 games at home from the Wings, which is including playoff games between the two competitive teams.

Can having Pavel Datsyuk back help the Wings be able to pull off a win? I sure hope so! It would not be the first time he won a game for Detroit! Follow TCL Red Wings on Facebook and Twitter for more Wings coverage and to win a free Nicklas Lidstrom jersey.

Rock solid Joey MacDonald? Not the last few games lol

I don't think MacDonald has played as bad as the players infront of him.

That's a great point. Still, sometimes the tender needs to bail you out a couple times

Agreed.
