Game Day: Wings Annual New Year's Eve Classic against Blues

The Detroit Red Wings return home tonight for their annual New Year's Eve tilt against the Blues, after falling to the NHL leading Hawks last night 3-2. The Wings battle the Blues at the Joe for the second time this week, having already defeated them 3-2 on Dec. 27th.

The Wings own the league's best home record at 14-2-1, and the Blues are a mediocre 7-8-3 on the road. This is the 4th meeting between these two Central Division rivals this season, with the Blues having won 2 of 3.

The first 40 minutes is always crucial, but will be even more important tonight, as both teams have identical 16-1-1 records when leading after 2 periods.

The Central Division is extremely competitive this year, with just 8 points separating 1st and 4th, with all 4 teams currently in the top 8 of the Western Conference. These division games are always important match-ups.

Expect the same line-up that dressed last night to dress tonight for the Wings.

Good game preview. I really hope we can beat em and get our confidence back up from last night.
