Wings Seeking 5th Straight Win

The Detroit Red Wings soar into the desert this evening riding a four game win-streak to take on their familair foe, the Phoenix Coyotes. This is the third meeting of the season between these two teams, with the Wings having won both.

These teams are no strangers to one another, having met in the first round of the playoffs the last two seasons, with the Wings winning both times.

The Coyotes currently sit 11th in the tightly contested Western Conference, just 3 points out of 8th. The Wings sit 2nd in the Central Division, sitting one point behind the Blackhawks with a game in hand. A win tonight leapfrogs the Wings into first.

Look for Jimmy Howard to start his 39th game of the year tonight, in search of his league-leading 28th victory. Expect Mike Smith to oppose him.

The Wings are 9-2 against opponents from the Pacific Division this year, and the Coyotes are a mere 4-6-1 against Central Division teams.

Puck drop is 9:00 EST, 6:00 PST at the Arena.
