Wings Win Second Straight Thanks to Seven Unanswered Goals
The Detroit Red Wings won their second straight game this evening, as they defeated the Winnipeg Jets by a score of 7-1. The Jets arrived in Detroit at 4:30 a.m. this morning, but didn't show any signs of being tired early, as Bryan Little beat Jimmy Howard five hole just 35 seconds in. That would be all for them, as the Wings netted 7 straight to close out the contest.
Jiri Hudler is now hot, scoring twice tonight, giving him 4 in 3 games. After mentioning him in my inaugural blog, about only having 2 goals in 23 games played, he's picked it up. He must read this! Hopefully he continues his current hot streak.
Chris Conner scored his first goal in a Red Wings uniform tonight, 4:43 into the second period, putting the Wings up 4-1. Also getting in on the scoring was Zetterberg, Bertuzzi, Filppula, and Miller. All around a spectacular offensive showing.
Jimmy Howard only allowed the Little goal 35 seconds in, and shut the door the rest of the way, recording 29 saves. One would think with numbers such as his (1.89 GAA, .930 S%) he would be included on the all-star ballot right?
The Wings are nearly unbeatable at the Joe this year, as the victory tonight was the ninth straight at home. However they play their next 6 of 7 away from home, including the Wings next game Tuesday night in Pittsburgh against the rival Penguins.
